Keeping it Clean

Countertops- Wipe clean with a mixture of mild dish detergent and water. If dirt or debris remains, wipe with a generous amount of the cleaning solution and let sit for several minutes. Wipe clean.

Microwave- Place 1/2 cup water mixed with 1 tbls. of lemon juice in the microwave for 2 minutes. This will steam and loosen any baked on particles. Wipe clean with mild soap and water.

Oven- For self-cleaning ovens, run through the cleaning cycle. Be sure to ventilate the kitchen well, as there may be fumes. When the cycle is complete, wipe the inside surface with a mild dish detergent and water. For other ovens, place a small dish of ammonia inside the oven overnight. In the morning wipe down the oven with a mild dish detergent and water. Also wiping down the inside of the oven with vinegar can cut down on grease buildup.

Pots and Pans- To easily remove burned on food, Add a small amount of dish detergent and some water to the pan. Bring to a boil and and then let cool thoroughly. Clean as usual.

Refrigerator- Unplug refrigerator. Vacuum exterior coils. Wipe the inside with a mixture of vinegar and water.

Sink drain/Garbage disposal- Fill the sink with hot, soapy water once a week and drain. This should dissolve greese and keep the pipes clean. This same method should also keep the disposal clean and in good working order. If there is a problem with odors, try running two tablespoons of baking soda and a few lemon peels through the disposal.
